Since lockdown so much has changed, peoples lives, peoples worlds, peoples perceptions of what life is really about.
Since the world stopped to take a long but necessary breather, the skies are clearer, the stars seem brighter, there’s so much less pollution. Nature has decided that instead of man hindering it’s progress that it’s going to teach man “how to grow” properly, just as the Universe intended it to.
As I type this, looking out my front window from my office, I smile at all the families, passing by in single file cycling – something they never would have even have dreamed of such a short time ago because their lives were just too busy. Even though people are apart, I feel they are coming together in so many ways that would never have happened without this pandemic.
But – there’s another side, with the business I have, showing words of comfort and love to others, I have also seen the tragedy. So many of my customers have told me their stories and honestly, it is absolutely heart breaking. One girl who bought my Robin cards told me afterwards that she bought them to share with family – this girl lost both her grandparents and her uncle in the space of 3 weeks from this dreadful virus and at the time she emailed me, she had another 2 immediate family members in ICU with covid-19. I had a girl buying a Robin frame for her mum because her dad had died the week previous from the virus. I had a girl from Australia call me to send a Robin frame to her boyfriends dad who lost his partner the week before and that’s only a glimpse of it. There is just so much pain out there right now.
Last week I got a text from someone who was not impressed at all that lockdown, as we know it, is pushed back to May 18th. I say, push it back as long as we need to in order to avoid unnecessary pain and suffering for anyone. I am actually so proud of how this country is handling this, compared to most other countries. I understand totally that not everyone is a fan of Leo Varadkar and yes, they might be right in some ways re spin doctoring etc but we’ve plateaued the curve thus far and that’s a lot more than can be said for some other countries.
I hope that we all emerge from this as better people, as changed people, as people who understand just how precious life really is, as people who love more and expect less, as people who value the time they have with the people they love. I hope that people stop being so unnecessarily busy that they actually take time to “stop and smell the roses”, that the hugs that they give are so much more precious and that the times they share together with their loved ones really, really mean something.
I wish this for all of us, for everyone in the World because just imagine how much of a better place the World would be.
